Even if there’s distance, between us Friendship will live just at ease No need to talk or make such a fuss We know we’ll find some release Even if there’s a sea, between us Friendship will sail just at ease Somehow the dark roads are sinuous We know we’ll find some release We share the laughs, the rhythm and sound We know we’ll catch the breeze We share a strong and a different bound We get along at ease We share the joy and music around Universal playground Sailing away, all alone in the night, let me follow your light Playing all night, you and I through the fights, let me stand Sailing away, all alone in the night, let me follow your light We share the laughs, the rhythm and sound We know we’ll catch the breeze We share a strong and a different bound We get along at ease Cause we share the joy that music brings It’s our own playground, it is a thing It’s our friendship and we sail along We’re just at ease, riding the breeze, you and me.

I remember 08:29
Do you recall days when we were young? The time when we would sing a song, Feeling so strong, we were on top of the world. Do you recall the smells of lavender? Resting my head on your shoulder To get away from a monster. Little spider, your willpower, I remember, mother. Do you recall the walks on golden sand? And that day when you took my hand Eyes on the ocean, beautiful horizon. Do you recall a snow in December? Spending the night like travelers And coming back to each other. Baking flour, a hot shower, I remember, mother. I remember when we were young Never afraid, always headstrong We knew that if something ever went wrong In the heart of her land we would find ways to play along And if we ever missed our home We could always go back where we belong I remember, a sunflower, I remember, love and power, mother!

about

Rodrigo Simões' second album, "Jazz brésilien" is the result of two years of research at the jazz master's degree of UdeM, where the artist has evolved under the direction of bassist Alain Caron (UZEB). The instrumental themes and the vocal pieces (in French and English) are inspired by the rhythms of the Brazilian musical tradition such as "maracatú", "forró" and "samba". Rodrigo (electric guitar, "violão", "bandolim") is surrounded by a group of experienced musicians, Fabrice Laurent (drums and percussion), Papacho Sirdey (piano, rhodes and melodica), André Galamba (bass), Aquiles Melo (congas) and Jean-Pierre Zanella (saxophonist solo guest). All pieces are composed by Rodrigo, with the collaboration of Sonia Johnson (recipient of a Juno), singer, guest soloist and lyricist of three songs of the album. There is also a samba version of Bluesette (Toots Thielemans / Norman Gimbel), arranged for the occasion. The album is being released by the Montreal-based label Multiple Chord Music (MCM).
